on Serving the Lord

on Serving the Lord

Giving ourselves and our children to God does not mean resigning our job etc. and going off to some other place to preach the gospel. It might be easier for some to give up their job than to give up their self will - that is why some missionaries who have left their jobs etc. still crave for position and power (in Christian circles!) and have relationship problems!

Our aim and
passion need to be to be more like Jesus and to be a witness for Him wherever we are. The need of the hour is for faithful men and women who live the gospel and be His witnesses in their places of profession/education/family etc. and lead others to a genuine church (body) life.

Friends, there is no secular - spiritual division before God. Do not feel inferior, thinking that you are of lesser value to God since you are not in full time work. Wherever you are and whatever you are, be a light in this dark world. Be passionately devoted to Jesus - by living a Christ like life and spreading that aroma of life that flows from your inner being. St Augustine once said - " Preach the gospel always - if necessary, use words". Christendom is full of words - the need is to preach without words - through life. In our land where God's name is being dishonored through money loving, ego centric full time workers, what a need to have men like Paul who will be able to support themselves and others through tent making (doing some work to support yourself). By His grace and enabling, I am a servant of the Lord (full time) and also work in an Engineering college (full time) to support myself! When I was a student, God led me to bring around 10 of my friends to the faith - by loving them, praying for them, helping them, sharing the gospel and taking them to the church along with me. Now I am one of the elders of a church here, fully involved, even while being a Professor in an Engineering College.

I have made blunders and have failed in the past. There was a period in between, when I neglected my current responsibilities and was always looking for greener pastures (spiritually speaking)! I used to feel inferior in what I was doing and kept looking at awe at other adventurous ministries. Those were the times when my life was the least effective. I did not see the worth of the church and the godly brothers near me - but was seeking to associate with people far off, involved in spectacular ministries. It was only later did I realize that it was 'discontentment' that was driving me. Discontentment is extremely dangerous - it will in turn lead to murmur, complaints , rebellion and finally to destruction. Well, God gave me light on my self and my motives and He helped me to get back to the right track in repentance. Since, then I became focused and my life too became more effective. Let us be humble enough to realize that we can't do too many things in our life time. Let us be sincere in the little that the Lord has entrusted us, with a sense of value and respect to those along with us. Friend, if you are sincere and do not fool time, you can be a full time worker, even while studying/working! God bless you all.

Walker or a Talker?

Are you a walker or a talker?
Acts 1:1 says that Jesus did and then spoke. It is easy to go to the tree of knowledge (for knowledge of right and wrong) and eat than to eat from the tree of life. Tree of life is guarded by the cherubims with revolving swords and unless we allow these swords to fall on our flesh/self life (while we walk the talk), we will not become humble, godly people. An educated mind and sharp intellect can analyze/say/write a lot of stuff - but the need of the hour is for faithful men who will do and then teach. Knowledge puff up! .. and there is a possibility to think more highly of us than we ought to think and be self decieved. Even cyber fellowship can lead us to self deception. Loving a person in a far off country is much more easy that to love a brother who keeps irritating you in your local church! It is only when we obey, yield , build a godly family, be integrated to a local body of believers, lead a local body of believers etc. (do..), that we become broken and wise. A few wise words from the walker will have a greater impact than multitude of words from the talker! What a need for us all to be better doers!
